- I am a patient at the BUPA hospital, can I still come? Yes, all welcome irrespective of whether you are private or NHS, or which hospital you attend.
- I am 54, is that young enough? In breast cancer terms you are young if you are under 50 but we do not ask your age! We welcome ladies of all ages but our conversations tend to be about fertility, body image, telling the children, finding a man, etc if these interest you then please come along.
- I can only come for an hour, is that OK? Of course, drop in for as long as you like at any time between 3.00 and 5.00 pm
- Can I bring a friend? Bring a friend or a family member if you prefer, but we will always ensure that you are welcomed into the group so don’t be afraid to come along on your own.
- Can I bring my husband? This is a difficult one as it really depends on the others in the group. Obviously, we will not show reconstructions etc with men in the room but we are happy to ask the group if they are happy for them to stay. Alternatively, they could go and have a coffee in the café whilst you make new friends.
- I had a mastectomy 6 years ago but feel I would like to talk to someone? Everyone needs support at different times and we will welcome you irrespective of what stage you are at.
- I need a mastectomy but don’t have cancer, can I still attend? Yes, breast disease, birth defects, and prophylactic treatment can all mean breast surgery and that gives us a lot in common with those that actually have breast cancer.
- What if the 1st Sunday of the month is a bank holiday weekend? We will always be there the 1st Sunday of the month irrespective of what else is happening that weekend!
- I’ve had some side effects from my treatment can you advise? We are not able to give any medical advice but very often others at the group will be able to tell you how they coped with their own side effects which might be helpful to you.
- I am unable to attend the support group as I live a distance away how can I
contact you? There is an e-mail link for Chris or Rachel on the main page, if you would like them to contact you send a message with your telephone number or e-mail address and they will get in touch with you.
